(Writing this feels like writing a dating bio, oh god where do I start?) If you see me around the office and don't know what to say, try starting with A. If you want to read my almost-dating bio, read B. A. Talk to me about music, Seinfeld, or Spongebob. If you're not into any of that, hmmm ok that's weird, but cool! Talk to me about what you're passionate about, teach me something new! I love learning new words, teach me cool words please! Lately I've learned "verisimilitude", and "yepsen," which is an obsolete word referring to an amount that can be held between cupped hands. Ex. a yepsen of water, is the amount of water you can hold with your hands cupped together. Cool, huh? B. Hi! My name is Mitch. I fell in love with radio during college where I was a DJ at my college station, KTRM 88.7 The Edge in Kirksville, Missouri. Sharing the music and stories that exited me most with listeners opened me up to the wider world of radio that drew my interests in a big way. I went on to become the program director, and digital content manager at KTRM. I had many unofficial duties I also enjoyed participating in because radio became a very important part of my identity beginning then. I learned how to create liners and legal ids, I did promotions for our station at many campus events, and even helped pitch our station to MTV-U's program "College Radio Countdown" where we got to have our radio station featured on an episode! Buuuut, all that was 4 years ago and just the entry into my radio career. I've been with Warm for 3 & 1/2 years now, and spend a lot of time volunteering at KEXP. Even cooler for me, I've been lucky enough to have my music been played on several radio stations with my band Hi Crime. Stations like 107.7 The End, KEXP, and various college stations have been playing our tunes. For me there's nothing cooler than hearing yourself on the radio, whether it's your music as a musician, or as a DJ on the mic, sharing your voice and message with all those listening.
